The NDP is currently filibustering the back-to-work legislation tabled by the Harper government as Bill C-6, An Act to Provide for the Resumption and Continuation of Postal Services.

NDP MPs are speaking for allotted periods against the legislation as part of its effort to use “all parliamentary procedures” to block back-to-work legislation aimed at Canada Post. This strategy could take the entire weekend to play out.

The debate can be watched live here.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers’ 48,000 members launched rotating 24-hour strikes on June 3. After 12 days, Canada Post said it had lost about $100 million, and locked workers out.
